Designing Comfort: The Art and Ergonomics of Seating
Join Professor Alan Hedge, whose work has influenced organizations from NASA to Fortune 500 companies, for a thought-provoking webinar on the science of sitting and its impact on health, comfort, and performance. Drawing on decades of research, he will explore common posture mistakes, including hunched “shrimp” sitting, and their effects on muscle fatigue, breathing, circulation, and musculoskeletal strain.
He will contrast these with healthier seated postures, including Keegan’s Normal Posture, the benefits of dynamic reclined sitting, and the role of workstation setup, from monitor height and keyboard placement to laptop stands, footrests, and head support. The session will also offer practical guidance on balancing sitting, standing, and movement throughout the day.
